Pratt Mountain is, in the words of Beckey, "merely a bouldery hike" in the summer. In February it is an interesting snowshoe destination.

Ascent

Start at the Bandera Airfield exit from I-90 (signed Forest Road 9030). Drive to the north side of the freeway and drive as far as possible towards the Talapus Lake trailhead. Depending on your car, this may not be very far at all. I parked right by the freeway.

Either walk the road or travel cross-country to the Talapus Lake trailhead. Follow this trail to Talapus Lake. Easy.

From Talapus Lake, climb up to the SE ridge of Pratt. Steep and timbered.

Then follow the ridge to the summit. A few steep and somewhat exposed snow steps.

The summit is exposed to the wind.

Descent

Descend the climbing route.
